New Year Resolution fuss

New Year is a couple hours away. A new start of another 365 that will be full of surprises. We really don’t know what this year will bring us:either happiness or sadness. It might as well mark as our best year or the worst. We really don’t know, that’s one thing humans lack: fortune telling. The mysteriousness of the coming year makes us start New Years resolutions . In our mind, we want this year to be the best, to turn us into a better flawless person. That’s when we start jotting down our flaws and all what we want to change in ourselves and our lifestyles. We try to create a better version of ourselves for the new year, the new perfect coming year. I honestly do not fully feel that new year resolution as important. Although I have ranted about the reason it exists but I seriously think that an endless list will not make it a better year. You might disagree but lets put it this way, if you had one task to do then you would do it eventually; well you might procrastinate but eventually it’ll be done. On the other hand, if you have a long list of tasks you’ll just get lazy and postpone it to some other time, and in the case of new year resolutions, you’ll have 365 days to achieve your goals. In the nature of a human one directly postpones a task when they have that vast time. All your goals will eventually pile up on the last week of that year and none will fully be accomplished. I believe setting a resolution every week is way more effective. You will have one goal every week and you will know eventually that this should be done in the next six days, your mind will realize the little time it has to change and will less likely procrastinate. It’s psychology! Another reason New Years resolutions are less likely to be effective is because the diminishing excitement. When you are writing your list you would be all excited and hopeful. You would really want to accomplish what is on that list because of some motivational reasons you have read or you believe will create a better you. This excitement fades throughout the year and nothing is really accomplished when you no longer excited to get it. Honestly I feel that new year resolutions are just a person postponing their ambitions and wishes. It’s exactly like a girl starting a diet on Monday after seeing a models show on Wednesday . Why Monday? If you want something just start with it right away. On Sunday night you’ll forget how amazing the models body were and you will forget how badly you wanted that while watching the show. The excitement is less than what it was on Wednesday and the percentage of going on a strict diet on Monday is very little. If you started the diet on spot and decided to start eating clean from that point onward then the diet is more probable to succeed cause you applied it in the peak of your excitement and yearning for a perfect body. New year resolution is a list of all what you wanted through the past months and is almost impossible to be achieved since you are less excited towards them than before . They will also cause some sort of depression at the end of the year when realizing you barely fulfilled you wishes. Best way is to start a resolution every week on the coming year and you’ll end up with better results and less disappointment. That’s just my opinion and i would love to know your opinion. Maybe you’d be able to convince me to start the New Years resolution.

Happy New Years and may this year be full of happiness and accomplishments 🙏
